4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,434 ratings

An undercover FBI agent and a coffee shop owner who values her independence must team up when a local barista is found dead in their coastal Texas town in this new romantic thriller from New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin.

With two brothers on the police force, Leyla Breda is well aware of the rising crime in her small beach town, but she never expected it to show up on her doorstep. When Leyla finds one of her employees murdered in the alley behind her coffee shop, she’s deeply shaken, and as a new law enforcement officer in town begins to circle her place of business, her instincts only sharpen.

Sean Moran is on an undercover mission: The seaside community of Lost Beach may look like a picturesque postcard, but his team suspects it’s a point of intersection for several crime syndicates that the FBI has been investigating for years. Even so, when the brash and beautiful Leyla Breda starts bossing him around, he's immediately intrigued. He knows her brothers want him to back off, but every time he sees her, he feels more of a spark.

Leyla’s connections in the local community and Sean’s skills allow them to go deeper into the case together than they would be able to go alone. But when a single crime spirals into something much darker, Sean’s carefully planned mission takes a deadly turn.

Thrill a Minute

Thrill a Minute
This is the fourth book in The Texas Murder Files Series, and it does not disappoint. It is fast paced, draws you in, perfect beach setting, and I am so jealous that the main character owns a coffee shop overlooking the water. I need to either move to Lost Beach or switch lives with Layla. Not all things are as sunny and perfect as you would imagine. This book can be read as part of the series or as a standalone. As the population goes up, so does the crime rate. Layla never expected it to touch so close to home. When she finds one of her employees murdered at her coffee shop, she is utterly devastated and is determined to find out what happened to the young woman. Did I mention that her two brothers are police officers and the one man that has caught her eye is working for the FBI? Will these connections help Layla discover who is behind this murder and why? Or will it let loose a storm that there is no coming back from.Laura Griffen always writes an enticing read that draws you in and does not let you down. Her characters are fun and relatable. She enjoys throwing in smoldering looks, which make deep desires come rushing to the surface. I can always do with sparks flying and spicey action when it comes to the romance department!

This is a fast-paced whodunit that grips you and just won’t let go! The story of Leyla Breda and FBI agent Sean Moran is one that builds the sexual tension between the two just as the suspense builds about who killed Leyla’s employee and why. Sean is in the small town of Lost Beach investigating a possible crime syndicate operating in the area when Amelia’s body is discovered. The way Sean takes charge of Leyla’s emotional and physical well-being adds intensity and a compelling layer to the story. I enjoyed the fact that Nicole is put in charge of the investigation. She is a strong female protagonist who seems out of her comfort zone at first but quickly finds her stride and does a masterful job of laying down clues for the readers. The suspense is compelling and makes the book hard to put down and crackling with tension as Leyla gets herself into dangerous situations while trying to help out. I also enjoyed seeing how the police department worked together to solve the crime and how Sean kept turning up and ended up being an asset to them. The well-crafted storyline included well-developed and realistic ideas and the characters were dynamic and fascinating. I really liked the small town setting in which everyone supports one another, making the story one that is satisfying and relatable. This is book number four of the Texas Murder Files series, but it can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone. I like the repetition of characters and finding out more about each character as the series has progressed. I especially enjoy the smart way that the author has pulled the series together to flow so well, with the setting and the Breda family as central to the story. This is a not-to-be-missed book with everything a suspense reader desires in a page-turner of a book!

As you can probably tell by my string of recent books, I am in my romantic suspense era (alongside other eras too LOL). This is book 4 in the Texas Murder Files and focuses on Leyla who is the sister of Joel and Owen. Leyla is a business owner in their town who ends up getting sucked into an investigation when one of her employees is found dead outside of her shop. That is when she meets Sean, a mysterious FBI agent who is also hot and a tourist. Leyla has one rule when it comes to her heart- no tourists. But of course as we know how these things go, that rule goes out the window as her and Sean continue to run into each other throughout the investigation. Leyla inserts herself in it more than she needs to which back fires in the worst way for her.

I am excited to see if this story continues into the next book as it was wrapped up but also part of a larger investigation. I am also PUMPED to read about Nicole and Emmet. They have been circling each other since book 1. I have enjoyed getting snippets of Nicole’s POV in the past few books as well. This is a series that I recommend jumping into!

Leyla Breda is a coffee shop owner, but has two brothers on the police force so she knows that crime has increased in their small coastal town of Lost Beach, Texas. Still, she's shocked when she discovers the murdered body of one of her employees in the alley behind her shop. When someone new begins asking questions, she knows something is up which is how she discovers that Sean Moran is an FBI agent working undercover. The agency suspects that Lost Beach has become a hub for multiple crime syndicates and they want to put a stop to it. Sean knows that he should keep his distance from Leyla but he just can't stay away. And Leyla knows Sean will leave but it doesn't seem to matter.

I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. As a small town Texas gal (despite years of living in a city), I love that the series is set in a small, Texas town. And that it's also on the coast is even better. The book was well-written with well-rounded characters and a fast-paced plot full of action with lots of twists and turns. I was drawn into this thrilling read from the beginning and read it in one sitting putting off other things that I should have been doing. :) Leyla and Sean were great characters. The sexual tension was there, but the connection between them was deeper. The mystery is multifaceted which will keep you on your toes and guessing throughout. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order to get the most out of things.

This is 4th in the series & the third book in the series I have read. I skipped the 3rd one because Owen hadn't grown on me in the previous book. I loved the first two & gave them 5 stars. This one didn't quite make it for me. It almost felt a little M&B in the romance department which lost it a star. The thriller part of the Story was good. Nicole (the lead Detective) had an excellent part. The suspense built well throughout. Layla played her part in the suspense well. Just the romance didn't quite work for me.

I loved this story with all the intrigue and suspense. The love story between Sean and Leyla was woven into the story and moved along at a sizzling pace. The FBI were working one case and the local police another with both investigations overlapping. I couldn’t put the book down.
