Small town love
Wild Mistake is book 2 in the Wilder Valley Series. This was a great small town second chance romance featuring another Wilder Brother Aiden and his high school love Sarah. These small town romances are my new thing I love me a good old service/ cowboy. I loved the time jump between the past and the future, the letters between them and the attempt to stay away from each other. I need more from them Wilder’s. The narrators are both amazing definitely in the top favorites.

Aiden and Sarah were high school sweethearts and had a bright future ahead of them together. Then Aiden decides to enlist without talking to Sarah, and they go their separate ways. Yeara later, Sarah is now divorced with two teenage sons, and Aiden is out of the military after twenty-one years of service. Can the two reunite and get back that spark that made them so good together?

This was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. You can't help but feel for both of them after the struggles they went through and the miscommunication that happened to break them apart. Seeing them back together was sweet, and you just find yourself rooting for them. Their story is one a lot of people can relate to, so it's very easy to connect with their characters.

I didn't really believe in the reason why they separated to start, and felt like if they were truly as close as we're lead to believe then this situation wouldn't have actually happened.

This book was very similar to its successor except Sarah is now the divorced mom of two returning to the small town she ran from and Aiden is the high school sweetheart who broke her heart when he enlisted in the Army. Aiden also happens to be Ryan’s younger brother. What I did like about this book is that we did get much more detail about their past relationship and how it broke down so tragically. Now both back in Wilder Valley and they cannot deny the attraction that they have always had towards each other. Aiden is a great character and he’s very likable. Similar to his Brother and Val, Sarah and Aiden get back together and they too live happily ever after. I would love to see a bit of variation in the books, Jackson may be a good book because he doesn’t seem to have a high school love he’s just spreading the love around town.

This wonderful second chance romance captivated my attention and tugged at my heartstrings throughout the entire book. Kacey Shea created something very special when she created the “Wilder Valley” series, a later in life romance with characters and storylines that are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Each book in the series features a different couple and their story stands it its own and this second book is Aiden Wilder and Sarah Baker’s story. They were high school sweethearts who thought they were each other’s forever love. Maybe they would have been, but things changed and we find out those changes in reflections back in time as we watch the characters live through the present. Sarah, who had moved away from Wilder Valley, returns with her two teenage boys after separating from her husband. It has not been easy for her, financially or with the boys, especially her eldest, who has been very angsty and does not want to talk about it. Aiden, an Army Ranger served for twenty years and he felt it was time to come home, and when he is glad he did because his brothers did not tell him that their dad’s health and memory is declining and now he can spend time with him. He also learned that Sarah was back in town, his one true love and the one who broke his heart. I absolutely adored Aiden and as much as I adored him, I despised Sarah’s dirtbag soon to be ex-husband. Aiden and Sarah meet again and clearly there are unresolved feelings between them, and Aiden would love for something to come of it. Sarah is hesitant, she has more baggage, not meaning her children, but an ex who is a thorn in her side and some health issues which she eventually shares with him. Shea put these characters through the wringer for these two to get to their happily ever after, and I was rooting them on every step of the way, despite the speed bumps. This is a beautiful and heartwarming story, like all her other novels, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. I loved all the layers of the story, the complexity of the characters, and how love wins in the end. Kacey Shea, thank you for another beautiful story and emotional rollercoaster ride. 

🎧📚🎧 Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. I loved how they took their roles and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Ms. Brentmoor captured every aspect of Sarah’s personality, from her vulnerabilities to her strengths and all in between. Hatchet nailed it as Aiden, grasping his cool, calm and caring demeanor, as well as his other personality traits. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every one. These wonderfully entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Wild Mistake is book two in the Wilder Valley series by Kacey Shea. This book brings us a second chance, single parent, small town romance. Sarah and Aiden were high school sweethearts and Aiden was determined to take care of her by enlisting in the military. They made it through the first few years of him being away, but when he reenlisted without talking to Sarah first, she broke things off. Fast forward several years and Sarah has two kids, a soon-to-be-ex husband and a debilitating medical condition that brings her back home. Aiden retires and also comes home and wants to start over as friends with Sarah.

I love how Aiden never stopped loving Sarah and was finally able to fully show her. Even though she had two teens that hated Wilder Valley, he was willing to do whatever it took to prove that they were endgame. While this book felt a bit like the first book as far as tropes and similar storylines, I still enjoyed it just as much.

Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchett narrated Wild Mistake and brought the characters to life. Samantha was great at bringing out the emotion and struggle that Sarah faced on a daily basis while trying to keep her family together. Robert was fabulous at being the tough guy who would do anything for his woman.

This second book in the series featured Aiden and Sarah, a couple who had been in love in their youth until Aiden's army life got in the way and they split up. Sarah is back after leaving her unfaithful husband and is struggling with ill health as well as two teenage sons. This is a heartfelt story and the reader can really feel for both characters as they work through their issues.
