The Libyan Diversion Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 2,945 ratings

From New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Joel C. Rosenberg comes the fifth military and international political thriller in the Marcus Ryker series.

The world’s most wanted terrorist is dead. Marcus Ryker recommended the drone strike himself. The intelligence was rock-solid. But what if it was wrong?

Abu Nakba—the man responsible for lethal attacks in Washington, D.C., London, and Jerusalem—is finally dead. Marcus Ryker has been tasked with hunting down and destroying what’s left of the terror group Kairos.

But before Ryker can mobilize his team of CIA operatives with their new assignment, a disturbing report from Libya suggests all may not be as it seems. The U.S. bombing that should have taken out Nakba’s headquarters now appears to have been a disastrous mistake—and Ryker himself may be responsible.

With Kairos gearing up for a major retaliatory strike against the U.S., time is short, and terror cells may already be inside American borders. But Ryker won’t be able to stop this threat until he clears his own name, and his closest ally inside the White House can no longer help him.

The Libyan diversion threatens to leave Ryker on the sidelines just when his country needs him most.

Packed with action and intrigue, this thriller novel is everything Joel’s fans have come to expect.

  • A high-stakes suspense novel for fans of Jack Carr, Ryan Steck, and Kyle Mills
  • Perfect for fans of geopolitical thrillers

Fast paced, action filled, historically and present times accurate, just as his previous fictional works. Mr. Rosenberg's readers could not be blamed for describing him prescient. I'll always pre-order his books and then count the days before they appear on my Kindle.

Book Review – The Libyan Diversion – Markus Ryker Series #5 - Joel C. Rosenberg
Author Joel C. Rosenberg pulled together all the threads from the previous four Markus Ryker books and created another masterful tapestry of action, intrigue, and suspense in the fifth military, international political thriller “The Libyan Diversion.” In Book 5 of the series, protagonist Markus Ryker - one of the CIA’s top operatives - has been tasked with hunting down and destroying what’s left of a horrendous terrorist faction. Packed with ample action and fascinating international political drama, this thriller is everything readers can expect from Joel C. Rosenberg. His descriptive writing style with pertinent and significant details allows the reader to see the story unfold with authenticity, credibility, and believability. He kept the plot pace moving while putting Ryker in intense and dynamic situations that keeps the reader turning the pages and wondering what next in this high-stakes, geopolitical, military suspense thriller. Well researched – as usual by Rosenberg – copious action, good wholesome characters and a very compelling story that gives readers plenty to think about. Love Rosenberg's moral fortitude and ethical storytelling. The climatic ending was outstanding too! Hope this series continues, it’s really good!

As is always true of Joel’s books, his writings have an I-cannot-lay-this-book-down effect on me. His novels have an uncanny link to what is happening in today’s world, a link that is both unsettling and thought-provoking. Thank you for keeping us aware, always keeping us grounded in Christ.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a page turner as the previous books of the Marcus Ryker series
Reviewed in Germany on November 22, 2023
Unlike the previous Marcus Ryker novels, this one has not really gripped my attention. I think this is mostly due to the incredible story line and the unrelated real world events. (at the end of the it is a novel, so I might be too critical of a reader)
I hope for a more convincing novel, as I really enjoyed reading the previous books! Hoping to get more stories about Marcus and his fellows soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars an important and timely read

Well crafted absorbing read and new development in the Marcus Ryker series. True to Joel’s form, very contemporary issues addressed, this time the danger of infiltration due to very lax border control. Excellent.

ただ、シリーズ2〜4作(1作目は未読)には及ばない印象を持ったので星4となりました。
