Das S Squad soll zwei Wissenschaftler aus der Gobi Wüste retten. Wie immer gerät man vom Regen in die Traufe…

Tremors, was wir bekommen ist Tremors. Eine sehr amüsante und ideenreiche Tremors Variante. Es ist kein Geheimnis das es um Riesenwürmer geht, das Cover nimmt es vorweg. Mit einigen netten Kniffen nutzt der Autor diese possierlichen Würmer um einige Dinge zu erklären und das Squad immer wieder in neue Bedrängnis zu bringen. Der Action Anteil ist gewohnt hoch, bleihaltig und kreativ.

Und ich ziehe meinen Hut, denn der Autor setzt seinen Weg aus dem Vorgänger fort um seinem Squad endlich mehr Tiefgang zu geben. Plötzlich werden die austauschbaren Soldaten zu Menschen. Erstaunlich was man mit ein paar Zeilen und mit ein wenig Dialog machen kann. Dank der Freundschaft zwischen Doktor Reid und Wiggins erfährt man so Einiges. Ich begrüße diese Entwicklung, denn sie tut der Reihe wirklich gut. Einiges ist tragisches, anderes lustig.

Die Kapitel aus Reids Augen wo er das Squad beobachtet und Schlussfolgerungen zieht sind treffend, ja geradezu zielgerichtet. Er eröffnet eine andere Perspektive. Eine neutrale auf den ganzen Wahnsinn der vor sich geht. Die Squad ist es gewohnt Monster zu jagen; Reid ist es nicht. Seine Sicht der Dinge gibt dem Ganze eine angenehme Erdung.

Die S Squad Romane entwickeln sich in die richtige Richtung. Zur Action gesellen sich endlich auch Charakterzüge. Kann gerne so weiter gehen. 4 Sterne.

Jeden Band dieser 9-heiligen Reihe einzeln zu bewerten wäre etwas zu lang. Insgesamt hat mich die Reihe gefesselt, überzeugt und mir beim Lesen Spaß gemacht, auch wenn die Bücher alle ein wenig kurz waren. Die Charaktere waren sympathisch und man fieberte mit.
Aufbau war immer gleich, das S-Squad, die Monstermagneten, stolpern in einen Einsatz, bei dem es schnell lebensgefährlich und ziemlich überirdisch bis prähistorisch-phantastisch wird.
Für Genre-Fans eine Kaufempfehlung.
Für die ganze Reihe geb ich 4 Sterne.
