Sold to the King: Steamy Medieval Fantasy Romance (Legends of Braeyork Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 179 ratings

Step into the erotic medieval world of the Braeyork Dominion - tales of historical fantasy romance for readers who like the heat turned up VERY high.

"Growing up as a poor girl in my village, I knew I possessed but one thing of any monetary value.

My innocence.

I had developed early. Men would stop and stare at the generous curves of my tall body. But my father understood that only the King of the Braeyork Dominion was rich enough to pay for the gift I had to offer.

So here I was, ready to be inspected like a broodmare at auction to determine the price the King was willing to offer my widowed father and help our starving family survive the winter starvation.

If I used my advantages with skill, I might avoid becoming another concubine to the King and, with luck, become his Virgin in Waiting, the chance to be his next first-wife.

Or perhaps, he might choose me as his second or third-wife to provide pleasures unbecoming of a first-wife.

But what I didn’t know, standing in public view at the King’s court, was how he would test me before gifting me to one of his two handsome sons."

Elva quote

Aiden qoute

"Elva, is sold like a concubine to the king, who soon decides to gift her to his eldest son and heir to the throne. But the second son, Prince Aiden, is the one who awakes the feelings of the beautiful girl, and the two end up trapped in an instalove."

"I recommend this book for all fantasy romance readers who are not afraid of very hot scenes, but who appreciate a subtle epic touch that characterizes second-world stories so well."

"The author intertwines graphic and sometimes kinky scorching hot scenes with the couple's feelings in their fight to stay together, facing their society and dark magical forces."

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is Book 1 of my new Legends of Braeyork series. I hope you'll enjoy the story and the two main characters of Sold to the King - Elva and Aiden.

Book 2,
Taken by Manbeast is a little longer than the first book in the series. It is the story of Flame, a mostly Fae maiden and Thereon, half-man, half-wolf.

Book 3,
Saved by the Warrior Wife is the longest book yet of the series and is much more of a slow burn than the first two. The events in this book take place thirty years before the start of Book 1.

All the books in the series can be read as a stand-alone, although I recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment.

The Braeyork Dominion
The stories are set in the timeless world of the Braeyork Dominion. Kings in Braeyork rule with absolute authority, taking a first wife to bear children and second and third wives to provide additional pleasures. And if that is not enough, a harem of concubines to share with guests and other nobility ensures the King of Braeyork is never bored.

A variety of good and evil creatures inhabit the Dominion, including the Serpen Queen and beasts such as the Midnight Lupus. Faeries and Fae people are rumoured to live amongst the population of Braeyork, and there are also stories of dragons, elves and witches.

I love getting lost in the world of Braeyork, a timeless world where heroes and heroines must battle the forces of evil all around them to be together... forever in love.

From the Inside Flap

My father sold me to ensure my family would survive the winter starvation. I was among the fairest maidens of Braewyork, and the King paid a handsome price for me after a very public inspection at his court.

Now that I belonged to the most powerful man in the Braeyork Dominion, how would he choose to use me?

The story was well told with a good mix of symbols parts and the fictitious story line. I would tell others to read the story.

I read Misty's Gift first and this was a great book. I then found out From Morgan that Sold to the King should have been the first I read. I just finished Sold to the King, and it very exciting and very good. I would recommend both these book to anyone and then Taken by the Manbeast should be read next. I am going to start this book next. Morgan is a great writer and I can't wait to read more of her sexy exciting books.

The book started out pretty well, meeting my expectations based on the blurb- obviously it's a fantasy book and a bit "Game of Thrones" like in the way people (women) are treated. Elva is sold to the king, who then gives her to his son to be a "first-wife" so that she can have his heirs and some day be Queen. But she falls for his younger son Aiden. So far I was tracking with that. What got me was the marriage ritual (won't give too much away about that, because spoilers) and some of the weirder fantastical scenes toward the end of the book. Think of turning into serpents. So it started strong but just ended a bit weird for me- however it's very short so you are not making a huge commitment if you check it out.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"Sold to the king: giftd to his sons" is first in a new erotica/romantic fantasy series, "Legends of Braeyork", by debut author Morgan Rush. I confess it was my first reading experience with direct erotica: I'm primarily a reader of fantasy and epic romance and like high voltage of spice in my books. I picked "Sold" in Amazon mainly for the cover art, that is gorgeous and have some Conan and Sonja's vibes for me. But I soon got involved in the story: the heroine, Elva, is sold like a concubine to the king, who soon decides to gifted her to his eldest son and heir to the throne. But the second son, Prince Aiden, is the one who awakes the feelings of the beautiful girl, and the two end up trapped in an instalove. The world of Braeyork is a very primitive and patriarcal society, so, the women are seen as the property of men, who display them like trophies and use them as they please. But Aiden is a different kind of guy, extremely attentive and dedicated to the one he considers the woman of his life. The story is told in two povs, so, we can follow the impressions of hero and heroine in their fight to stay together, facing their society and dark magical forces. Yes, there is a lot of sex, truly scorching, graphic and sometimes kinky, but it is erotica, of course, and the author makes a good work intertwining the hot scenes with the discussion of the couple's feelings and several hints of worldbuilding. My only conplain is the size of the story: it is a novella and I think there was many material for the author writing and make the story even more intense. I learned that the second story will be much longer, which has already excited me, as I intend to follow the series for more scorching romance and, of course, deep worldbuilding. In all, I recommed this book for all fantasy romance readers who are not afraid of very hot scenes, but who appreciate a subtle epic touch that characterizes second world stories so well.

This book had unusual customs but very strong characters. It had no limit to the Troublesome things that a person would go through in order to secure their families future. In both main characters, they did what they must or at least what they thought they must. It had a really good ending but it leaves you questioning what happened to the main characters twin brother

I wish I'd paid closer attention to the description of this book before reading it. It is vulgar in language and in content, and straight up porn. I couldn't get it off of my kindle and out of my kindle library fast enough.

Elba was suppose to marry Aiden' s brother. But on the night of their wedding the serpent came and want to mate Elva. Aiden fought it and finally beheaded it. His reward was to marry Elva and she agreed, but they had to live as commoners.. And so their life begins . Great read and highly recommend this book.
