Miss Newbury's List (Proper Romance) | A Historical Regency Romance Book Kindle Edition
—Booklist, starred review
”Miss Newbury’s List is a gentle, moving, romance novel that’s inspired by kindred companionship and crossroad reckonings.”
—Foreword Reviews
Before Rosalind weds, she wants to experience ten things. Meeting Charlie wasn’t on her list.
England, 1820
Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow, a man she has only met twice, and she knows exactly how she wants to spend her time. As a child, Ros created a list of ten things to do before her wedding day. So far, she has done none of them.
She is determined to tackle each item, though she’ll have to accomplish them all in secret. After all, a soon-to-be-duchess is not usually allowed to bury treasure in the pasture, eat sweets all day, or learn how to swim. She enlists the help of her best friend, Liza, who brings along her cousin, Charlie, a prodigal son-turned-boxer who has come to the countryside to mend his reputation and learn how to be his father’s heir.
Together, the three of them work to complete the list, and as each item is crossed off, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Ros and Charlie. The more time they spend together, the more Ros falls in love with this imperfect man and his good heart.
With the wedding looming, Ros must decide to either admit her romantic feelings for Charlie and risk her family’s future, or keep her promise to marry the duke and start a new life as a noblewoman.

Trigger Warning: death of a loved one mentioned briefly
In just three weeks Rosalind Newbury is set to wed the Duke of Marlow- a man she's barely met but whose title will provide a prosperous future for her family. While she is eager to become a wife and fulfill her duty, she finds herself unexcited about the upcoming wedding. That's when she decides to complete a list of ten items that she wrote years ago. If she can accomplish these things before her wedding she will surely find happiness. Rosalind enlists the help of her friend Liza and Liza's cousin Charlie to complete each task. But as they make their way through the list, Rosalind begins to feel things for Charlie that she knows she shouldn't. Will she truly be ready to wed Marlow or will this adventure of hers lead her heart in another direction?
What a fabulous historical romance from Megan Walker! I loved Rosalind's bucket list and how each item led to a fun adventure and shenanigans. Rosalind was strong and feisty even if some of her thoughts about marriage and responsibility were a bit misled. It was so sad to think how many women during this time period probably entered marriage out of duty rather than love! I'm so glad Rosalind's story ended happily! Charlie was a great hero and did so much for Rosalind. I loved his boxing lessons, his scandalous alcove moment, and how he kept Rosalind safe. Charlie had made some mistakes in his life, and seeing how Rosalind believed in him warmed my heart. And the ending was so suspenseful and filled with angst! I was not expecting the events that came to pass, but I thoroughly enjoyed how everything played out. I should also give a special shout out to Rosalind's brother Ben- what an honorable, charming, and mischievous man! I would love to see him get his own book. After this I'm definitely eager to read more from Megan Walker in the future!

Rosalind was such a wonderful sweet heroine and Charlie the perfect hero.
I loved their sweet friendship and love story. I was on pins and needles til the end wondering what would happen.
I didn’t want this happy story to end, I also loved Liza and would love her story next.
This was such a comfort read! I purposely took my time at certain parts just to make the story last. I love first-person POV from the heroine's perspective, especially in regencies, and I loved the flow of this book!
The tension between Charlie and Rosalind was perfect.
And the ending.
*sigh*
Highly recommend for fans of clean regency romance!
I received a copy from the publisher, but all opinions are my own.

Ho molto apprezzato l'evoluzione dell'atteggiamento della protagonista. La parte di romance l'ho trovata abbastanza scontata, ma penso di essere io il problema...
