”Miss Newbury’s List is a gentle, moving, romance novel that’s inspired by kindred companionship and crossroad reckonings.”
Foreword Reviews

Before Rosalind weds, she wants to experience ten things. Meeting Charlie wasn’t on her list.

England, 1820

Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow, a man she has only met twice, and she knows exactly how she wants to spend her time. As a child, Ros created a list of ten things to do before her wedding day. So far, she has done none of them.

She is determined to tackle each item, though she’ll have to accomplish them all in secret. After all, a soon-to-be-duchess is not usually allowed to bury treasure in the pasture, eat sweets all day, or learn how to swim. She enlists the help of her best friend, Liza, who brings along her cousin, Charlie, a prodigal son-turned-boxer who has come to the countryside to mend his reputation and learn how to be his father’s heir.

Together, the three of them work to complete the list, and as each item is crossed off, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Ros and Charlie. The more time they spend together, the more Ros falls in love with this imperfect man and his good heart.

With the wedding looming, Ros must decide to either admit her romantic feelings for Charlie and risk her family’s future, or keep her promise to marry the duke and start a new life as a noblewoman.

Review

“Walker dazzles readers with a wonderfully surprising Regency romance about self-discovery and following one’s dreams to new beginnings. The fresh premise is an immediate hit, and the exquisitely paced plotline strikes a satisfying balance between pursuit and reflection for its delightful characters. The chemistry between the always proper Rosalind and Charlie positively glows with yearning. It is a resounding success for Walker, whose talent for emotional intricacy and smart wit elevate the standard of excellence in the genre.” ―Booklist, starred review

Hands down one of my favorite regency romances!
I was so deeply in love with this story! The ending was wonderful and I was so sad the book was over! I immediately purchased more books from Megan Walker to fill the void of a newly finished story.

Trigger Warning: death of a loved one mentioned briefly

In just three weeks Rosalind Newbury is set to wed the Duke of Marlow- a man she's barely met but whose title will provide a prosperous future for her family. While she is eager to become a wife and fulfill her duty, she finds herself unexcited about the upcoming wedding. That's when she decides to complete a list of ten items that she wrote years ago. If she can accomplish these things before her wedding she will surely find happiness. Rosalind enlists the help of her friend Liza and Liza's cousin Charlie to complete each task. But as they make their way through the list, Rosalind begins to feel things for Charlie that she knows she shouldn't. Will she truly be ready to wed Marlow or will this adventure of hers lead her heart in another direction?

What a fabulous historical romance from Megan Walker! I loved Rosalind's bucket list and how each item led to a fun adventure and shenanigans. Rosalind was strong and feisty even if some of her thoughts about marriage and responsibility were a bit misled. It was so sad to think how many women during this time period probably entered marriage out of duty rather than love! I'm so glad Rosalind's story ended happily! Charlie was a great hero and did so much for Rosalind. I loved his boxing lessons, his scandalous alcove moment, and how he kept Rosalind safe. Charlie had made some mistakes in his life, and seeing how Rosalind believed in him warmed my heart. And the ending was so suspenseful and filled with angst! I was not expecting the events that came to pass, but I thoroughly enjoyed how everything played out. I should also give a special shout out to Rosalind's brother Ben- what an honorable, charming, and mischievous man! I would love to see him get his own book. After this I'm definitely eager to read more from Megan Walker in the future!

I loved reading this book! It is so richly & lovingly written. The characters quickly draw you in to their world and before you know it you are laughing along with them as they attempt to fulfill the crazy items on Rosalind's "things to do before I get married" list. The two books that I have read from this author have both been full of wit, clever humor and amazingly interesting characters ... I adore her sense of humor & her writing talent. I can definitely see myself reading this book again & again. My new favorite author & books ... I recommend her novels very highly!! Five stars⭐

4.5 STARS

This was such a comfort read! I purposely took my time at certain parts just to make the story last. I love first-person POV from the heroine's perspective, especially in regencies, and I loved the flow of this book!

The tension between Charlie and Rosalind was perfect.

And the ending.

*sigh*

Highly recommend for fans of clean regency romance!

I received a copy from the publisher, but all opinions are my own.

I loved this book! I loved how she didn't always follow rules of society and was adventurous! I think the story flowed really well, and kept me interested the whole time. Just to put this one a scale, my all time favorite proper romance is Edenbrooke. This book is just barely behind it as my favorite

As soon as I saw Megan walker had a book out I bought it and did not sleep until I finished. She is so good at making you feel all the emotions and writing out matters of the heart and seems to really grasp human nature and longing etc. It was so good! I loved it and only wish she had so many more books!
