Cookie Encounter was a great story. It kept me turning the pages.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A delightful very well written romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romantic movie, or mini TV series. Not something I normally read but I really enjoyed it.Tony Parsons, GoodReads reader
Cookie Encounter has been a hit since we added it to our collection. We have two copies that have checked out a total of eight times in just three months! That is a tremendous turnover rate for any book. We are glad to see it doing so well. It's a testament to great word-of-mouth buzz.Ryan Johnson, O'Fallon Public Library

About the author
Michelle Connell wanted a typewriter when she was 2 years old. She had to wait a few years before she could write on one in high school. Then when computers came out, she began writing in earnest and loved the delete key! She has written many articles, hundreds of book reviews, and a book of writing prompts with her writer's group.
Her first novel is Cookie Encounter, part of the Chance Encounter Romance series. Michelle is married, has 4 children, and homeschools them in southern Illinois. When she isn't writing, she is reading or scrapbooking.
Heir Force: A Military Inspirational Romance is her second novel and takes place at Scott Air Force Base, IL, USA.
She is currently working on her second Chance Encounter story, called Accident Encounter, coming out Fall 2019.
Her books have been compared to the writing of such authors as Richard Paul Evans and Debbie Macomber, with their wholesome stories about love and forgiveness.

This was a sweet, heartfelt story that was powerful in the emotions conveyed. The basic premise was great, and the author did a fantastic job of portraying Christians showing the love of God through their own actions.
What should have been a great story was marred by sloppy editing, poor grammar, simplistic writing, and some scenarios that were simply unbelievable. Some of the editing issues were beyond the author's control since the digital version appeared to have many irritating flaws unrelated to the writing such as dialogue not separated by paragraph breaks to differentiate the speaker. However, I wasn't convinced all of that was due to electronic issues because those problems persisted even when the digital version seemed to be working appropriately. In addition, there were quite a few missing words and what should have been compound words split into two.
The author would elevate her writing by taking an excellent refresher in grammar, especially learning to use the past perfect tense. She also has a habit of mixing tenses within the same paragraph, sometimes even in the same sentence. She starts by talking in past tense, switches to present, then back to past. Since the story is written from a first person perspective, it might have been forgivable if not for the fact that the narrator is an author who commiserates with the English teacher about the deplorable lack of grammar exhibited in modern writing. Both she and the teacher were pots calling the kettle black.
Although I did enjoy the story, I wasn't drawn into it because the writing only had basic sentence structure. There was no complexity to it whatsoever. If the story were otherwise perfect, that could have been overlooked. However, there were multiple issues that just didn't gel with reality such as a sexual assault victim with unresolved trust issues having a male acquaintance she didn't know well stay several nights at her house or the way the strained relationship with her parents was mended without the reader being shown how that happened or what about the parents had changed. Some areas needed to be fleshed out, others written more concisely, or better research to make the medical and accident scenes more believable.
This was both an enjoyable and frustrating read, a great story that could have been much better. I'm not sure I'll be willing to invest more time in other works by this author.
One of the things I enjoyed the most about Michelle Connell’s Cookie Encounter was Natalie. Specifically, Natalie as a non-Christian. In my opinion, this is one of the most accurate depictions of a never-churched non-Christian that I’ve read in Christian fiction.
One of my dearest mentors taught me that people don’t care what you know until they know that you care. I so LOVED seeing this concept play out in Natalie’s story. Mrs. White, Mrs. John, Nick, even their pastor – none of them spouted sermons or platitudes at Natalie. They didn’t use a lot of “church speak”. Instead, they just loved her quietly and sincerely and selflessly. Because Jesus had made a difference in their lives, they reached out to make a difference in hers. And in so doing, they introduced her to Jesus in the process. To me, this was such a refreshing look at how it should be done and seeing it through Natalie’s eyes made it even sweeter.
When your hero is a Richard Castle lookalike, you really can’t go wrong with a chance encounter. Especially one that begins over a plate of cookies. Not to mention that Nick is sweet and sincere and just an all-around good guy. Cookie Encounter has an assortment of characters like this, and I would love to be friends with any of them. While the writing style often strayed into the territory of “too much superfluous detail” and not enough of a focused plot for my personal preference, I still enjoyed reading Nick and Natalie’s story (theirs is a nice instant-attraction but slow-develop romance) and I’m looking forward to future books in the series. Michelle Connell has done a fantastic job of getting inside Natalie’s head through the first-person narrative, and Natalie’s perspective on the book’s events is refreshing and authentic.
