Have you ever wondered what it will be like to close your eyes for the last time and leave this world behind? For ten individuals who encounter the beautiful and mysterious Brianna in their soul's journey after death, that question is answered and answered dramatically.

"A Journey of Souls" song lyrics

The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on,
What is this mystery? What does it mean? It hints at something never heard or seen.
Do you wonder what waits beyond? The souls journey goes on and on.
The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on.
Ten people who pass away, see the light of another day. Some were cruel and some were kind.
Some saw the truth and some were blind.

The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on.
That hour comes when we close our eyes. The spirit lives but the body dies.
Do you wonder what waits beyond? The souls journey goes on and on.
The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on.

What is this mystery? What does it mean? It hints at something never heard or seen.
Do you wonder what waits beyond? The souls journey goes on and on.
The souls journey goes on and on, on and on, and on.

'A Journey of Souls' is in many ways reminiscent of my Dad's concept of heaven and hell. My father always told us that what we make of our world is what we will inherit in our death. This book explores the lives of several people. It gives a brief background of their life's work - good and bad. It takes one on a journey that explains how our actions and attitudes in life may influence our rewards or punishments in death. This book has me looking at my life and what I have or haven't done with it. As I read the book I pondered what my afterlife will be like. I like to think of myself as a fairly decent person but I know there are some things I'm ashamed of. I like the way the author, Mr. McKinney, tells the story of how this physical life may relate to the after life. I the book very spiritual in nature but not religious in any way. For me, the book is more about spiritual growth than religious growth. I think if a person reads this book and really thinks about the individual stories, they will appreciate what a remarkable writer Mr. McKinney is.

“Just enjoy the ride Calvin. It's more fun to marvel at the wonder, than to wonder at the marvel. Don't you think?”
This book is fascinating, infuriating, and impossible to put down. With a few caveats. The first chapter is pretty plodding. But chapter two takes off with a gallop (and an explosion) and the story continues to race to the end.
This is a post-death novel. Not zombie so much as afterlife – heavy on the karma. With each new chapter, a new character comes to understand the underlying plot: “You didn't realize it at the time, but you made the choice to be here a long time ago.”

The characters will make you care. The storylines will make you think and nod and cry.

Unfortunately, the proofreading will make you cringe. I desperately wanted to give this novel a 5 – the story is THAT good. Unfortunately, the proofreading is THAT bad. Expect your/you’re, ‘em/him, they’re/there errors throughout, and an almost total failure to indicate possessives. But if you can get past the sloppy proofreading, you’ll find an outstanding novel.

I’m really hoping the author finds a proofreader then does some serious marketing on the corrected version. This is a book that deserves to be read.

The characters and stories here are excellent, but it was a little challenging to read. This book definitely expanded my vocabulary. It’s also very dialogue-heavy which makes some parts whiz by and other areas, which are not so dialogue-heavy drag a bit. The things that were compelling about a Journey of Souls was that it’s about the people you meet within life. It approaches life and death with diversity while evaluating many different journeys.

It has a similar tone to Mitch Albom and similar to Mr. Albom, I was left in tears. Ugly crying in the middle of a Thursday afternoon was not how I planned my day, but A Journey of Souls hits the motions hard. It’s not unnecessarily sad; it speaks with a notion of transparency and truth.

I loved how each ‘story’ was told with a matter of fact voice that made it seem like each detail was inarguable. It left you struggling with what you wanted for these people versus what life had dealt as their fate. Caitlin’s story left me, especially beside myself. As a true crime fan, I’ve heard of so many cases of children who needed care were just forsaken or neglected and struggled with the decision of humanity in Caitlin’s case is an act of love and care rather than that of harm or hatred.

A Journey of Souls by Michael McKinney is not only an interesting but powerful book. The author’s wisdom and passion are evident as he interweaves stories of several characters that have passed from this world. It is a story of ten people who wake up find themselves in a familiar setting after the earthly life. Their destination intertwines personal life stories and individual histories. They meet a mysterious woman named Brianna who welcomes and guides them in the journey of the past and present.

Have you imagined what waits after this life? What follows is a dramatical answer to this question. The diverse life stories of the numerous characters make the book even more interesting. The book gives hope and comfort in regards to what comes after death. The author writes a free-flowing plot with engaging style. You will love the imaginative and brilliant story development. The book will keep you glued from start to finish. I highly recommend it.

This book takes us through several people’s lives just before and following their death. I liked the variety of individuals the stories present. I think this book would be good for anyone who has an inkling about what happens after we die. Some of the sections were harder to stay interested in (in the beginning), but the author picks up the pace and the intensity as the book continues.

This is a 5 star story. Beautiful and incredibly enlightening and I would definitely recommend it but not before the editor runs a proper spellchecker as the grammatical errors are numerous and terribly distracting.

I picked the book up thinking it to be a non fictional account, but it turned out to be a series of stories, very beautifully written. I couldn't keep the book down and finished it in 2 days.. This book and every story in it is worthy of being made in to a movie.. While it is work of fiction, the world around us has infinite possibilities and therefore these stories may even be coming out true for some souls... Highly highly recommended.
