Texas Outlaw (A Texas Ranger Thriller Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 10,033 ratings

To Rory Yates being a Texas Ranger is about justice, but all of that changes when he is brought to a small southern town to help uncover the mysteries behind a local woman's death—only to discover corruption and lies.

Texas Ranger Rory Yates is not keen for hero status. But it's unavoidable once his girlfriend, country singer Willow Dawes, writes a song about his bravery. Rory escapes his newfound fame when he's sent to the remote West Texas town of Rio Lobo, a municipality with two stoplights. And now, according to the Chief of Police, it has one too many Texas Rangers.

Rio Lobo Detective Ariana Delgado is the one who requested Rory, and the only person who believes a local councilwoman's seemingly accidental death is a murder. Then Rory begins to uncover a tangle of small-town secrets, favors, and lies as crooked as Texas law is straight.

To get to the truth before more people die, Rory is forced to take liberties with the investigation. The next ballad of Rory Yates may not be about a hero, but rather an outlaw song.

Enjoying the Texas Ranger series
I just finished Texas Outlaw, Jan 18, 2021. I bought it Used “Like New” condition, & it certainly is like new as a matter of fact, i realized that the listing said, apparently “unread” used book. So i implore people to check out used, there’s always 100’s avail. So, i had read Texas Ranger , the 1st in the series, in the Summer of 2019. I was pleasantly surprised recently when browsing Patterson books, to come across a second.”Texas Outlaw” I’ll just say that, i find the main character Ranger Rory Yates very likable, and the story is engaging, and i flew through this book. Also, some likable secondary characters as well. I especially like the love(s) interest. Great fast paced, fun , story telling. Nothing more nothing less. I look forward to more Rory Yates tales!

He makes the national news. However, his boss did not like the attention he is receiving. He assign to Rio Lobo, a small west Texas town to investigate a dead city councilwoman- Susan Synder. He starts the investigation with detective Ariana Delgado who almost becomes his lover, but he had a girl friend who is on the verge of becoming a huge country music singer. She relocates to Nashville where is opens for major country artist. Rio Lobo is small, and quite town where everyone knows one another, but the town hold a lot of deep secrets with people going back to their high school years. The major employer is an oil company- McCormack Oil. It appears they do oil drilling work, but it is not the case, but they kill people, and they are the major drug distributor in the Southwest USA working with Mexican drug cartels. Ranger Yates bust open the drug exposure killing the owner and his son, but also put a lot of people in federal prisons for drug dealing. It is a good reading keeping you on edge.
