Going back to the roots: discover the truth about Hoodoo and harness the wisdom of your ancestors to bring happiness, health, and prosperity to your life -- even if you’re an absolute beginner.

Do you want to know more about your culture and the spiritual beliefs of your ancestors, but you don’t know where to start?

The more you read, the more confused you get, because you’re getting lost in an ocean of contradictory information?

This happens more often than you think, and here’s why:

Hoodoo is one of those “controversial” topics that are incredibly hard to research and explore.

Not because there aren’t many authentic sources -- but because there are so many false, unobjective ones.

Throughout history, various religious and political groups (with the massive help of mainstream media) have depicted Hoodoo as something evil and demonic.

Grave desecrations, devil worship, vandalism, human sacrifices… These are just some of the things associated with Hoodoo.

But the truth is the complete opposite.

At its core, Hoodoo is a practice that relies on love -- the love for your ancestors, your culture, your family, friends, and your fellow man.

Hoodoo is an integral part of African-American communities, and it should be embraced and respected by the rest of the world -- not twisted around or used as a tourist attraction.

Because of its bad history, Hoodoo practitioners have been forced many times to go underground.

That’s why learning the truth about the real Hoodoo is so hard -- but not for long.

In this incredible guide, you’ll discover the authentic Hoodoo -- the Hoodoo of your ancestors who have used its magic over many centuries to fight oppression and inequality… and bring peace and happiness to their lives.

In Hoodoo, you will discover:

  • An objective history of Hoodoo, from its roots in West Africa to modern times
  • An overview of Hoodoo cosmology, beliefs, and practices
  • A complete walkthrough of the basic tools of Hoodoo practitioners, including a guide on how to make your own Ancestral Altar
  • The most comprehensive guide on herbal magic and rootwork, including a plethora of information on harvesting, storing, and drying your herbs
  • Powerful White and Red magic spells every beginner can cast effortlessly, regardless of experience
  • Detailed instructions on candle-making, including a guide on candle colors and oils for boosting the power of your spells
  • Clear and precise instructions on making mojo bags for a variety of personal uses

And much more.

Your roots and your history are incredibly important -- they have shaped the community you live in, your family, your outlook on the world, and ultimately your life.

With this guide, you have a chance to explore that history without interference of unobjective and fake news.

Discover the real Hoodoo and let your ancestors lead you to a better life.

Excellent Book for Beginners!

Excellent Book for Beginners!
This book is a great starting point for people looking into Hoodoo. I love how it gives history of Hoodoo as a practice & where/how it derived, the similarities & differences between Hoodoo & Vodou, How Christianity, Islam, & even some European practices have had ties to Hoodoo as well. Then there's some info on candles, spells, rituals & herbs. For the spells and rituals if it doesn't apply to your mobility or access to equipment, you can be creative, as even explained in the book, there's no specific way to practice but there ARE some immutable principles that should be considered. As a person with Hoodoo experience, I found this book refreshing, and although I knew alot of things she wrote in her book, I wish I would've had a book like this when I was first starting out; easily digestible & straight to the point. The concepts get deeper than she describes but she gives you more than all you need to research for more. I'm recommending this book to all the baby practitioners I know!

This book Reclaiming the Power of Hoodoo: A Beginners Guide to African American Folk Magic to Cultivate Peace and Abundance Within Your Life Through Rootwork and Conjure by Alisha J brown is by far one of the easiest books to read for beginners of Hoodoo. Not only is the book very easy to read and understand, but it also provides easy to understand instructions and information for beginners to follow for their new Hoodoo practice.

Inside this book you will find a far from brief history of Hoodoo, its origins and the sometimes difficult to understand differences between Voodoo and Hoodoo and provides guidance on reclaiming the Hoodoo culture. There is also a chapter on hoodoo and how it relates to Christianity which also covers graveyards and six principles of hoodoo.

This book also discusses the essential tools used by Hoodoo practitioners. Learn about herbs in the chapter for rootwork. This gem of a book also contains chapters on spellcasting, candles, oils, bones, mojo bags and sweetening jars. The references in the back of the book point to actual Hoodoo practitioners’ websites and to other books that are powerful reference material for the more advanced practitioner of Hoodoo.

This title offers an excellent reference tool and is a perfect beginners guide to learning more about the practice of Hoodoo. Get useful guidance on the tools the practitioner needs to begin a successful spiritual hoodoo journey by adding this book to your collection.

This book is a good precursor to going deep into Hoodoo. It will give you a taste of it so you can make sure you want to go further. Please do not stop at this book though if you are serious about adding Hoodoo to your personal practice.

The above was my very first impression of the book, on the high of actuator having the time to finish the book. Thinking more on it though, there are bits of it that sounds rigid and doesn't allow for people who have limitations. Not only physical things like what if you don't have a tub you can soak in, but also things like, who out there can or will let a candle burn 24/7? That's very impractical. If you are creative, I'm sure you can figure out a work-around but things are started so matter of factly that you feel like you don't have the room to do so. Because of all this I had to drop my stars down to 4.

This book is phenomenal and it’s extremely informative. The book delves into the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, various rituals, religions, a deep explanation of herbal and colored candle usage, how to create oils and or potions, etc. This book is truly Amazing! I finished the book last night and I can’t remember finishing a book in a long time.
