Missing Heiress: A Jackie Harlan Mystery Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 425 ratings

The Harlan Detective Agency was the best there was when it came to finding missing people. They were also the most expensive, so it was no coincidence that they were hired to find the heir to a fortune totaling over 1.6 billion dollars.

Nicholas Gladstone left everything to a granddaughter he didn't know he had until a week before he died, but which one was it - the maid secretly working in the parent's home, an office worker, or the young woman tragically killed in a car accident?

Harlan Detective Agency is hired to find an heiress of Nicholas Gladstone. She an unknown Granddaughter he found out about one week before his death. The Estate is 1.6 billion dollars.
Nick Gladstone's attorney is Austin Steel. Nick's daughter, Laura & Matthew Connelly are suing the estate as rightful heirs. Nick would never accept Matthew, Laura's husband.
The Judge gives Austin Steel two weeks to find the missing heir. A great deal happens during the investigation. Possibilities are Teresa Gregory, maid of the Connelly's or Maggie Jackson who works for a small phone company.
There is danger, dead ends, & possible romance. Will they find Georgia Marie James in time?
A very good read. Find out what happens. Enjoy this book

Overall this was a solid 4 stars, maybe more. Some points of the suspense were discerned early and easily. Other points were obscure until the end. However, I struggled at times to stay engaged enough to finish the book. The characters were mostly engaging and interesting but somehow also seemed a bit lacking. While I wouldn't read this particular book again, I would be willing to try another by this author.

I haven't read a book by Marti Talbott that I haven't liked and this one is no exception. She keeps me on my toes thinking I have it figured out and then she surprises me and I DON'T have it figured out. She is an amazing writer. I highly recommend her book to any and everyone - grandkids to grandparents. My husband likes me to read her books out loud and loves it when I don't have it figured out.

I finished it so I gave it 3 stars. Lots of errors, grammatical and other, several places I think are impossible. Someone illegal in the States is illegal, even if an heiress. Well, may be money makes it possible ! Lots of coincidences, quite unbelievable. Bunch of weak characters.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I was not aware that this book was the second book in the series. This book was just my kind of book so I gave it a 5 Star rating.

This is a book that I can recommend to friends and family alike.

After reviewing the book list by this author, I did not find another that peaked my interest at this time.

Well woven, fairly complex plot with fully developed characters. Action is well paced for the most part but slows in a few places. It was fairly obvious after several chapters that the heiress is one of two characters. Satisfying ending brought all loose ends together for a feel good read without offensive language or graphic sex. I plan to read more of this series and have read and enjoyed other Marti Talbot works.

A really good story about finding your parents, murder, deception, and alittle romance. All the characters and their own stories help make this so interesting. There are a couple twists and one especially at the end that just make it fun! Moves right along and diffently keeps your interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars A super mesmerizing and feel good story - all at the same time.

This is one great story. I absolutely loved it. A straight forward missing heiress yarn with a 1.6 billion dollar fortune at stake. At least that's how it starts. But then complications arise and the story gets more complicated and more interesting as you go. At about the 3/4 point it turns into one of the greatest feel good stories I've read in years. All appropriate parties get comeuppances that leave you with one great big grin on your face and that feel good feeling that all is well with the world. Not much in the way of romance; but just enough to set up for a grand finale. This really is a fun laced and interesting yarn - with just enough humour to make a nice balance to the mystery side. And then……everything just falls into place. Don't pass up this great, great read.
